If a spiritual practice is not designed to awaken you to this moment, where life is, then it is an escape from, and therefore a denial of, life.
Enlightened recovery is not a path or program. It is the recognition of timeless presence. Enlightened recovery may not be for you. Just as using addicts are not always ready to stop using, addicts (even in recovery) are not always ready to see that the self is a dream of incessant thinking only. And so just as an addict must keep using until he hits bottom, you may need more time (more mind) before you are ready to realize that this moment is all there is.
Enlightened Recovery is not a better path. It is not about seeking anything including recovery. It's the end of seeking. It is liberation.
