Thank you for your interest in the Kiloby Retreat. The May 2009 Retreat will be a healthful weekend for pointing to what already is in historic New Harmony, Indiana. There are only a limited number of spots left for this retreat so don't wait too late to register! The retreat will take place from May 1st through May 3rd, 2009.

Nestled in southwest Indiana, New Harmony has a rich cultural and spiritual history. It was founded in 1814 by the Harmonists. They were a communal society from Germany very similar to the Shakers. They built the town and lived there for ten years then sold the town to an English industrialist named Robert Owen. Mr. Owen dreamed of starting a different communal society based on science, equality, and education. He attracted many of the times’ great thinkers, but the experiment only lasted a few years. Today New Harmony has many of its original structures, a Visitor’s Center, and many gardens, parks, and other sites that inspire tranquility including the Roofless Church, Carol’s Garden, the Labyrinth, and a walking meditation path. Feel free to explore New Harmony while you are here. Information about New Harmony and its sites will be provided in your registration packet.

The Retreat will be held at the Barn Abbey. The Abbey is a beautiful facility that has 12 rooms with 1 set of bunk beds and 1 room with 2 sets. There is a men’s and a women’s communal shower and bathroom on each floor. If you would like to share a room with a friend, please note that on the registration form along with their name. Please note if you do not mind sharing a room. It is possible to request a private room for an up charge. If you would like to make other arrangements, the closest facility is the New Harmony Inn (1-800-782-8605).                               We will have two chefs on board to provide five meals. We are planning a vegetarian fare including Tea Service for arrival on Friday night. We will provide breakfast and lunch on Saturday & Sunday. Saturday Dinner is on your own. When we have the menu set we will post it on the site. Several hours in the afternoon and early evening on Saturday will be set aside for exploring the Town of New Harmony and its historic spiritual sites.

Activities for the retreat will include meditation, silent time, satsang with Scott Kiloby. If you have a meditation mat, please bring it along.
